There's some recapping of what happened in the previous episode. Inuyasha then starts to attack Kagome yelling for the jewel. Kagome just barely dodges his attacks, which were meant to scare her. (You can tell Inuyasha doesnt really want to kill her since it appears hes missing on purpose) Kaede claims that Inuyasha's just as crazy as he was fifty years ago and pulls out a strange necklace from her pocket and uses a spell to magically place it around Inuyasha's neck. She then tells Kagome to use a word to subdue Inuyasha. Kagome randomly picks the word "osuwari" which means "sit" as in how you'd say it to your dog if you were Japanese. Instantly, Inuyasha is shoved face first into the dirt. Inuyasha is enraged and tries to take the necklace off, but finds he can't. The only person that can remove the necklace is Kagome and shes not about to anytime soon. Poor Inuyasha. ^_^
Kaede tells Kagome to say "sit" again, so she does and Inuyasha goes crashing through a bridge to the waters of the river far below. Kaede then tells them to take the jewel and return to the village since Inuyasha will no longer be a problem because Kagome can control him at will now. Back at the village, Kaede patches Kagome's wound and the villagers repair the damage that the centipede monster made. Kaede tells her that the jewel came from her body and that she was the reincarnation of her long dead sister, Kikyou. She then warns that people with evil in their hearts or youkai will come after the jewel. Inuyasha himself refuses to believe that this strange girl is the reincarnation of Kikyou and just shrugs it off rudely.
Kagome asks Inuyasha (who's just sitting around in the room looking pissed off) why he's still around and why he wants the jewel since he's already powerful and doesn't seem to need any more power to get by. Kaede explains that Inuyasha's a hanyou, or half demon. Inuyasha gets pissed and asks Kaede how she would know anything about him. Kaede tells him that he probably doesn't remember her, but she was Kikyou's little sister. Inuyasha then asks if Kikyou is an old woman like Kaede, but Kaede tells him that Kikyou died on the same day he was sealed. Inuyasha just smirks and says it was for the better that she died. He also claims to not believe that Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyou and sticks to this little thought of his for another few episodes. Stubborn boy. He shouldve been born a redhead. (j/k)
Kaede tells Kagome to protect the jewel as it is now her duty to keep it out of evil ones hands. The villagers then think that Kagome is the reincarnation and bow to her and give her food. Kagome takes the food and goes to find Inuyasha who's brooding in a tree and asks him if he wants to share the food with her. He just sits there glaring at "Kikyou" and tells her that all he wants is the jewel. Kagome tells him that all she has to do is say "sit" and he'll be subdued. Of course, her saying "sit" made him topple out of the tree and hit the ground. Kagome says she's sorry, but you can tell she doesnt mean it. XD
That night, Kagome decides she'll go home tomorrow since her family would be worried about her being absent for that long. Outside, a huge ugly crow youkai senses the jewel and Inuyasha chases it off. The next morning, Kagome takes off back to the well and is stopped by a group of thugs that drag her back to their master who wants the jewel. He tries to kill her, but accidentally hits one of his own followers as if he's drunk. His followers start to fear him and they all try to escape his drunken rage, but the master guy blocks the exit and they're all trapped. Kagome figures out that all he wants is the jewel, so takes the jewel off and throws it out the window hoping to distract the boss long enough to run away. The boss however takes his sword and swings at her, but she's saved by Inuyasha who comes busting through the door just in time. Inuyasha shows her that the boss guy has the crow thing in his chest. The crow was a demon that ate into his heart and controlled him trying to get the jewel. Since crow demons are very weak, they have to take over stronger bodies to have any real power. The crow runs from the body and the boss turns into a skeleton and then turns into dust.
Inuyasha asks her if the jewel is safe and she says she threw it outside. The crow, meanwhile, takes the jewel in its beak and takes off. Inuyasha gets pissed that she'd be that careless and grabs her a bow and arrow and carries her on his back as he runs to follow the crow. He tells her to shoot, so she does and misses. She tries again and misses again and Inuyasha is stupified. He then drops her and tells her she can't possibly be the reincarnation of Kikyou because Kikyou was a master archer and Kagomes nothing but a burden. He then takes off without her and the crow picks up a baby from a bridge and takes off with it to eat it. Inuyasha attacks the crow and it breaks apart and the kid falls into the water. Kagome dives in to save the kid and is thanked by the villagers who think shes some sort of water youkai since she can swim so well. She then snubs Inuyasha off when he asks her where the jewel is. (^_^)
Using the powers of the jewel in its shattered body, the crow regenerates and the body parts return to the crow. On the kid there happens to be the leg of the crow. Kagome takes it, ties it to her arrow and shoots it into the air following the now almost fully regenerated crow. Because the body part was being called to the crow demon, the arrow hits its mark and kills the crow as well as accidentally shattering the jewel. Inuyasha and Kagome look on as a shower of magic pieces fill the sky taking off into all directions. When they get to the place where the crow has fallen dead, they discover only a small fragment of the jewel. Looks like they're off on a hunt now! (And of course Inuyashas not a happy camper)
